HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
What was a pipe dream became a dream come true!!
Dynamic Agility Academy.
Our first class was on 25 February 2006 at Avion Park Sports Grounds, but soon we relocated to Assumption Convent in Malvern East on 1 April 2006. It was truly a humble start with only 4 PVC jumps and 3 students. We acquired a secondhand set of equipment in March 2006 after which renovation work started in all earnest.
Today Dynamic Agility Academy are the proud owners of a full competition set of equipment to host both agility and non contact competitions simultaneously. Our equipment also includes a wall jump and table. The school is also fortunate in having a set of training equipment.
As in most sport disciplines people come and go, and sadly we have had some go – happily we have had those who wanted to have fun with their best friend, with tons of patience and the will to succeed remain. These particular people will be richly rewarded in time to come.
WHO CAN JOIN?
Running, jumping, stretching and catching come as naturally to dogs as breathing. Not only is this form of exercise important for your dog’s muscular development, it will also ensure your dog ages gracefully and happily. Agility is a wonderful way to connect and bond with your dog and here’s the best part: basically, anyone can join in the fun! All breeds and sizes of dogs are welcome to join, although it would be a good idea to find out whether your dog has the right temperament, physical ability and body structure for agility training. All dogs can generally start agility training from as young as 12 weeks, although it will be preferable for them to have done a basic obedience training course first (puppies can start as soon as they have had their second inoculation). Older dogs are also more than welcome to join in, as it is possible to teach an old dog some new tricks! As for handlers, whether you are 8 or 68 makes no difference! Anyone with a dog can do agility training. There is no age limit for people or dogs, and everyone is encouraged to join in the fun!
