AGILITY TRAINING

Our classes are on Saturdays at Vryburger High School (Primrose). We offer regular additional fun events and demos for our handlers. We also take part in KUSA competitions on most Sundays for the competitive types.

PUPPY AGILITY

This is the puppy’s hi-light of the week – we play agility “nothing serious”. Even at 10 weeks we have fun and play on the equipment. When we get to about 6 months we know it all and move to beginners “ha ha we are really not beginners”

12 WEEK INTRODUCTORY

For dogs that have past puppyhood when they begin agility. We introduce the dog and handler to the sport, making sure they are familiar with every piece of equipment

BEGINNERS

Now work becomes serious but remains fun. Dog and handler will work on all the pieces of equipment until they are proficient

INTERMEDIATE

This is where things become “interesting” – now you string the obstacles together

ADVANCED

Dog & handler can now handle obstacles in sequence. You now come of age and learn how to do courses. You now decide whether to do the sport for enjoyment or competitions

PUPPY SOCIALIZING

Puppies are taught the social skills to interact with humans and other animals, also to cope with their environment. The window of opportunity is perceived to be up to 16 weeks. All they learn and experience in this time will influence their future temperament. Animal behaviour studies show that well socialized puppies are less likely to suffer from behavioural problems as adults e.g. fear and aggression. Socializing your puppy and following on with obedience affords them the chance to become confident and independent when meeting strangers, other animals and the environment. Puppy classes develop and strengthen that very special bond that you and your furry friend share, having fun and interacting with others

8 WEEKS OBEDIENCE

The 8 weeks obedience class is for dogs over the age of 4 months. We teach you to control your dog, work in a group situation and all the things you wish your dog can do when you see other dogs perform the moves

Dog training modifies unwanted canine behaviours, inhibits objectionable activities and teaches fun things for the dog to do

INTERMEDIATE AND CANINE GOOD CITIZEN

Once dogs have done the 8 weeks basic obedience we expand on what we have taught you. In Canine Good Citizen you and your dog will be taught how to make him / her good citizen

ADVANCED

We have lessons at an advanced level for those who want to continue obedience for fun, and lessons for those who wish to do competitive obedience
